The Pacific Northwest Region and Pacific Coast Region cordially invite you to attend the Siskiyou Summit 2012 PNR-PCR Joint Convention in Medford, Oregon at the Red Lion Hotel Medford, 200 N. Riverside Avenue. Plans and preparations are well under way by a dedicated team of volunteers in both regions working hard to ensure you will have a rewarding and enjoyable experience at the Siskiyou Summit 2012 Joint Convention.
The Siskiyou Summit 2012 Joint Convention runs from Wednesday, May 2 through Saturday, May 5, 2012, starting in the morning with both regions' Board of Directors meetings and ending with the Saturday night Awards Banquet. Sandwiched between the two will be a veritable smorgasbord of model railroading activities you've come to expect, including clinics, contests, prototype tours, layout tours, operating sessions, breakfasts, banquet, and more!
Mark your calendars now, figure out how to get to Medford, then get ready for some real model railroad enjoyment.
Registration
Full-Fare registration is $55.00 and Sidetracks registration is $25.00. The Awards Banquet is an extra-fare event and may be purchased separately from your registration on the "Company Store" page. See the "Registration" page for additional information about how to register, either by mail or online. All fares in U.S. dollars.
Convention Hotel
The Convention Hotel for Siskiyou Summit 2012 is Red Lion Hotel Medford, 200 N. Riverside Avenue, Medford, Oregon.
The Red Lion Hotel is no longer full!
A block of 40 rooms just became available this afternoon (4/13), so you can stay at the Convention Hotel.
See the "Hotel" page to make reservations at either the Red Lion Hotel or the back-up hotel, Rogue Regency Inn & Suites.
What's on Tap at Siskiyou Summit?
Due to the travel time involved for members of both regions, several activities have been moved from their “usual” day/time slots so that more members can attend them. And because this is a joint convention, several things, such as AP judging and the number and type of contests will be handled a little different than you might be used to. Our goal is to include everything everyone is used to and expects to be part of “their” regional convention, even if it is in a slightly different format.
Schedule
See the new "Schedule" page for an overview of the schedule.
Why "Sidetracks" instead of "Non-Rail"?
For many years a number of names have been used to denote the group of non-railroad oriented companions of the model railroaders and their activities at the conventions. Names have included “railettes”, “general”, “family”, and most recently “non-rail”. The NMRA 2012 National Convention in Grand Rapids has adopted the name “Sidetracks” for this very important group of people, in the hope that it will encourage more participation by more family members. For this joint PNR/PCR convention we will be using "Sidetracks".
Door Prizes
We are soliciting door prizes from many of the fine manufacturers of model railroad equipment and publications. They have been generous in the past, and we anticipate some wonderful offerings for Siskiyou Summit 2012. Each registrant will have a chance to win a door prize — you could be a WINNER!
We would also welcome donations of good, new kits, ready-to-run equipment, new (or in excellent condition) books, DVDs, or modeling tools from convention attendees. If you have some of these you find surplus to your interests, bring them along and donate them for door prizes. We'll find them a new home. Donations in all scales are welcome.
