2019 EVENTS
March 23, 2019 - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, FREE Open House, Golden Empire Historical and Modeling Society, 1534 19th and Eye Streets, Bakersfield, CA. (MAP)

Both of GEHAMS' layouts—HO and N scale—will have model trains operating to give the public a chance to see what model railroading is all about. Come and view Central California's largest model train display. Entrance to the clubhouse is to the rear, and in the alley, of the Chef's Choice Noodle Bar, located at 1534 19th Street, on the northeast corner of 19th and Eye Streets, and located on the 2nd & 3rd floors, in downtown Bakersfield.

A third layout at this site is a Lego Brick layout. The GEHAMS club is affiliated with the Bakersfield LEGO people and their layout is on permanent display on the N scale level. This is a 7-1/2 foot x 12-1/2 foot layout which depicts a city, complete with super heroes and custom-built LEGO brick trains.

Adults and kids of all ages are welcome. For further information, see the GEHAMS website.

We will be handing out rolling stock shells so that you can learn the weathering technique by actually weathering a car, instead of just watching a how-to video.

After a very short business meeting, we'll adjourn to several outside activities: Tehachapi Loop Railroad Club's Model Train Show (see next entry), the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum, and of course, the World Famous Tehachapi Loop.
